CBSE Class 11 Commerce: Subjects
The following are the CBSE board subjects for class 10 that are covered in the syllabus for the current academic year.
Accountancy
This subject introduces students to basic accounting principles, concepts, and practices. It covers recording, classifying, summarizing, interpreting financial transactions, preparation of balance sheet and financial statements.
Business Studies
Business Studies familiarizes students with various aspects of business such as organization, management, operations, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. It covers the principles and functions of management, business environment, business trade, commerce, social responsibility, entrepreneurship, international business and more.
Economics
Economics in Class 11 is generally divided into two parts:
- Microeconomics: This section covers individual economic behavior, the theory of demand and supply, production, costs, and various market structures.
- Macroeconomics: It deals with the overall economy and includes topics like national income, money and banking, government policies, international trade, development policies, economic reforms, current challenges, rural development, environment, etc.
English
English as a subject is compulsory in every stream, be it Commerce, Science or Humanities. Considered the ‘global language’, it is rapidly finding its place.
Optional Subjects
In addition to these core subjects, students might have the option to choose an additional subject. Common optional subjects for Class 11 Commerce students include Mathematics, Informatics Practices, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Legal Studies, health and physical education, fine arts etc. These subjects may vary based on the school’s offerings.
